How often do I need a gas safety inspection?
Landlords must arrange an annual gas safety inspection and provide a copy of the certificate to tenants within 28 days of the inspection. You must carry out a new inspection at least every 12 months.
Is it a legal requirement?
Yes. Under the Gas Safety (Installation and Use) Regulations 1998, all landlords in England, Scotland, and Wales who let properties with gas appliances must have a valid Gas Safety Certificate. Failure to comply can result in a fine or prosecution.
Can you issue the certificate on the same day?
